Edgar wins 2007 Dromkeen MedalPatricia Edgar, who established the Australian Children's Television Foundation and was the force behind acclaimed television series such as 'Touch the Sun' and 'Round the Twist', has been named the winner of the 2007 Dromkeen Medal.Published 13 February, 2008 Patricia Edgar, who established the Australian Children's Television Foundation and was the force behind acclaimed television series such as 'Touch the Sun' and 'Round the Twist', has been named the winner of the 2007 Dromkeen Medal. 'Winners', another Children's Television Foundation production, provided ‘a groundbreaking link between the printed and television mediums with over 200,000 books sold,' according to a statement from Dromkeen director Kay Keck. The statement added that this series ‘demonstrated the market for children's books based on original television.' Referring to the art of storytelling, the statement said Edgar's 'contribution stands as a lynch pin between the printed and electronic expressions of that which is central to children's literature.' The Dromkeen Medal, which has been awarded annually since 1982, will be presented to Edgar at the Courtney Oldmeadow Memorial Lecture and Dinner on 29 February 2008.
