The 32nd annual Galley Club Awards for Excellence in Book and Magazine Production were presented in Sydney on 27 June.
Awards included Australian Printed Book of the Year, which went to Icons of Australian Sport: Peter Brock (Hyperactive Inc.); Non-Standard Item of the Year which went to The Waterhole (Graeme Base, Penguin) (a title which also won Non-standard, Novely Book or Stationary Item); and Book of the Year, which went to Shoot: Studio Sessions (Peter Brew-Bevan, Murdoch). Shoot also won Innovation in Publishing and Print, Sheet-fed Limited Edition Book, and Sheet-fed Case Bound Book.
Other winners were Parsley Rabbit's Book About Books (David Legge, ABC Books); Marie Claire: Lunch (Jody Vassallo, Murdoch); Marie Claire Seasonal Kitchen (Michele Cranston, Murdoch); The Insider's Guide to Power in Australia by Jack in Insider (Richard Fidler and Peter Hoystead, Random House); Patterns of Steam (Shane McCarthy, Shane Brice McCarthy); The Shadow Thief (Alexandra Adornetto, HarperCollins); A Question of Death (Kerry Greenwood, A&U), Rooftops (Mandy Ord et al, Finlay Lloyd).
