New judge for Miles Franklin Award

Lesley McKay has joined the judging panel for this year's Miles Franklin Literary Award.

Published 20 February, 2008

Lesley McKay has joined the judging panel for this year's Miles Franklin Literary Award. The Sydney historian and bookshop owner replaces Eve Abbey, who retired in late 2007 after three years.

McKay and fellow judges Robert Dixon, Morag Fraster, Ian Hicks and Regina Sutton will release this year's longlist on 13 March.
The shortlist will be announced on 17 April, with the finalists to embark on a regional touring program (locations TBA) in late May, sponsored by Copyright Agency Limited (CAL).

The winner will be announced at a dinner on 19 June, and will set off on a second regional tour in mid-August.

The Miles Franklin Award is sponsored by the Nelson Meers Foundation, a philanthropic organisation based in Sydney.
