Published 1 May, 2008

The Australian Booksellers Association has announced the shortlisted titles for the Nielsen BookData 2008 Booksellers Choice Award.

Shortlisted for the award, which recognises the book that booksellers most enjoyed reading or hand-selling in 2007, are:

  • Orpheus Lost (Janette Turner Hospital, Fourth Estate)
  • The Memory Room (Christopher Koch, Knopf)
  • 4 Ingredients (Kim McCosker and Rachel Bermingham, 4 Ingredients)
  • The Peasant Prince (Li Cunxin, illus by Anne Spudvilas, Viking)
  • Maggie's Harvest (Maggie Beer, Lantern)
  • Girl Stuff: Your Full-on Guide to the Teenage Years (Kaz Cooke, Viking)

‘The ABA believes it is a special award, because it is decided by the people who care enough to personally recommend and put a book in the hands of the reading public,' ABA project manager Niki Aravanis told WBN. ‘This award is the only genuine reflection of booksellers' preferences and is supported on booksellers' behalf by Nielsen BookData and the ABA.'
