Max Barry's novel Company and Barry Heard's Vietnam memoir Well Done, Those Men, both published by Scribe, are Victoria's favourite summer reads, according to the State Library of Victoria (SLV).
Now in its second year, the SLV's Summer Read program asks Victorians to nominate their favourite out of a shortlist of novels and nonfiction books either written by a Victorian or set in Victoria.
Authors on this year's shortlist included Peter Doherty, Ilsa Evans, Garry Disher, Max Barry, William McInnes, Cate Kennedy, Diana Georgeff, Adrian Hyland, Paul Mitchell, Dorothy Porter, Craig Sherborne, Kate Holden, Alex Miller, Michelle de Kretser, Gregory Day, James Phelan, Adib Khan, Kate Legge, Alice Pung and Barry Heard.
