Man Booker prize-winner John Banville has set his pen to paper for the second time under the nom de plume, Benjamin Black. Mr Black's new novel, entitled The Silver Swan, came in as the most mentioned book in MX this week. This is the second book about Quirke, a pathologist from Dublin. The reader learns about the complications in Quirke's life, then his journey into a world of drugs, sex and murder. This sounds like a great combination of themes to spice up the apparently bland backdrop of Ireland in the 1950s.
